Keep familiar anchors
Pack sleep essentials, a favourite book and what makes an ordinary breakfast easy where you can reach them. Where possible, keep a few familiar actions in the same order. You do not need to recreate the old home entirely: small anchors can make the beginning and end of the day more predictable.
Separate necessary from optional
Mark genuinely urgent appointments and paperwork, leaving space between them. One familiar route to a park may be more useful than a new activity every afternoon. Offer small choices — a book, a walk, where to keep belongings — without handing over adult relocation decisions.
Review the plan together
Each week, discuss what feels comfortable, tiring or missing. Consider each child’s needs rather than comparing children with one another. If the routine is not working, adjust the workload, journey or timing. These are organisational ideas; persistent wellbeing or adjustment difficulties should be discussed with an appropriate professional.
